Overview/History
Thompson Hardwoods, Inc., located in Hazlehurst, Georgia, is a wholly owned company and part of the Beasley family of wood product facilities located in Georgia. Thompson Hardwoods, Inc. has been a manufacturer of Southern hardwood and cypress lumber and wood products since it was founded in 1957.
It was originally founded by W.N. (Bill) Thompson in 1957 as Thompson Timber Company and later became known as Thompson Hardwoods, Inc. in the 1970’s. The company grew into one of the country’s largest producers of kiln dried southern hardwood lumber, railroad cross ties, and hardwood chips. Following his death in 1999 the company continued under the ownership of Thompson’s son in law, Steve Johnson. The company expanded with new technology and equipment for the export kiln dried customer base over the next ten years and became one of the top 10 largest hardwood sawmills in the United States.
In early 2010, Thompson Hardwoods, Inc. was purchased by Darrell Beasley and his family who manage and operate one of the largest hardwood sawmill facilities in the United States located in Hazlehurst, Georgia.

The management team oversees with pride the manufacturing of quality southern hardwood and cypress lumber and wood products for a customer base that is worldwide. The team stands behind every shipment, from the finest kiln-dried Red and White Oak, Ash, Yellow Poplar and Cypress lumber products to the smallest hardwood chip and Cypress mulch product.
